Spring Garden Historic Homes

The Spring Garden Historic district is historically, archeologically, and architectually significant in the history of the City of Miami. This district is well known for it's abundance of early Frame and Masonry Vernacular, Mission, Bungalow, and Modern style homes that reflect the evolution of architectual design in South Florida during the early 20th century. A large amount of the buildings in the Spring Gardens Historic District were built between 1918 and 1949. An essential part of the history of Spring Gardens is it's location smackdab in between two bodies of water, the Miami River and what is now known as Seybold Canal. Seybold Canal, which was then known as Wagner Creek, was a main natural tributary of the Miami River. Spring Gardens is the oldest, unmarred, single-family neighborhood remaining along the Miami River today.
